Food and clothing are distributed on a regular basis on the 4th Friday of each month at 10:30 a.m. Jimmie Hollingsworth works with the South County Services on the third and fourth Thursday of each month, helping to fill bags for their food distribution. After these bags are filled, the remaining food from the Food Link is divided between all of the churches, who devote their time to help.
The food may be canned vegetables, instant potatoes, pasta products, juices, peanut butter, fruits, puddings, granola bars, and other nutritious items. The food from the Food Link is stored in the Food Pantry at the church. The day before the food distribution, Jimmie fills one bag for each person expected to pick up food on Friday. On the distribution day, Jimmie and his wife, Kathy, go to Raley’s and pick up dairy, produce, deli, and bakery goods that have been set aside for them on that day. When people come to the Food Pantry, they take one of the bags of staples and choose from the perishables from Raley’s. Food is also available throughout the month for emergency needs. Jimmy and Kathy Hollingsworth share God's love as they reach out to the community with food. | Wow, I guess Kathy's NOT doing all of the work! |
